Welcome to Época Haus

We are a brick and mortar shop located in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. 

Our Story

My name is Maria  and I am the co-founder and now sole owner and operator of Época Hau

I am a queer woman (she/her), mother, immigrant, social worker and business owner. I along with my family immigrated to Canada and Winnipeg in 1979.

I have loved bargains, old books and generally old things as far as I can remember. I started collecting coins in my teens and then books, paper coasters, matches, wood carvings; you name it! In 2015 an unexpected opportunity presented itself and I decided to open a shop and sell some of the things I collected. My partner at the time and co founder and I played around with ideas for the name and eventually settled on words that represented our backgrounds; mine Portuguese, so Época- meaning Era and hers German so Haus (House) and so it became Época Haus. The online shop started in July 2015 and the storefront at 1318 Main Street, opened its doors in November 2015. The same is till in the same space today!

Època Haus Mission:

To source vintage items with a focus on Mid Century (1950-1970) furniture and home accessories.

The quality of the items we source and present to you is important to me, as I want the items that you buy from me to be of the quality and in the condition I would want them in if they were to come into my home. With each item I source is ensured to be clean, touched up, fixed and refinished before it's made available for purchase. Purchasing Mid Century Modern / vintage furniture and accessories is sustainable and environmentally conscious, not to mention timeless, beautiful and unique. By shopping with Época Haus you are decreasing your carbon foot print on the planet as well as supporting a small local business.
